I just recently got the Q60S AWD and I'm not sure how to break in the engine properly. I've heard you're just supposed to vary the rpm's but to what degree? Any suggestions as to how high the engine should/shouldn't be revved?
From what i know you just drive it normally. No hard driving for long periods of time. But every so often you want to give it hard bursts of power just to build pressure to seat the piston rings.
During the first 1,200 miles follow these recommendations to obtain maximum engine performance and ensure the future reliability and economy of your new vehicle. Failure to follow these recommendations may result in shortened engine life and reduced engine performance.
-Avoid driving for long periods at constant speed, either fast or slow. Do not run the engine over 4,000 rpm.
-Do not accelerate at full throttle in any gear.
-Avoid quick starts.
-Avoid hard braking as much as possible.
<End>
Engine warm up
Also, as part of normal starting it's recommended the engine run for at least 30 seconds before driving and to drive at a moderate speed for a short distance first, especially in cold weather.
