I'd probably just stick with a sports coupe. a convertible is cool and all but is not necessary in my books. Not to mention the extra weight of the motor and top.
Was never a fan of the convertible. More weight I don't need. I don't like convertibles. They just add to noise and weight and decrease chassis rigidity.
convertibles are cool and all but i'm gonna have to go with the q60 sports coupe cause eventually I'll want to turn this into my weekend track car, so all that extra weight from the convertible top assembly will hold me back
I guess I'll break the trend... I'm aiming all manual convetible if it's an option! Not worried about out running the cops or the track, so I'd rather having somethign fun for winery days and beach trips!
I don't know what it is with infiniti/nissan but their convertibles are hideous. Both the 370z and g37 convertible looked out of place. I would much rather go with a sports coupe, keeping it original.
Qc.... I don't know if you meant to say such silly things, so I'll give you a pass this one time... but the converitble 350z is freaking smoking hot. I havn't seen the 370z in person yet... so I will hold my opinion for a later date
Have you been living under a rock? Haven't seen a 370z? They're everywhere man! You must be living somewhere not so populated. It's a good think you haven't though, I'd much rather take a 350z over 370!
I don't think convertibles have as much fans as coupes. It really is a matter of preference. I don't really like convertibles personally. I would take the coupe every time.
Hardtop converitble is the best of every world... no reason not to take it. And I've seen the 370zs witht heir wide asses but not a convertible version!! But yes, Roanoke could very easily be considered a rock, with great paved roads I almost got a 350z convertible but the trunk was so **** small I couldn't even pack for a week to the beach house.... FAIL!
Cargo space is definitely something to consider when getting a convertible. I have a feeling an Infiniti Q60 convertible will also have poor trunk space, the whole convertible setup eats up a lot of space as always. Plus for real space to be had, the Q60 will need to be really long, which in this case it will probably be as long as the Q50 or up to 6 inches shorter.
For convertibles, there isn't much space to keep the motor for the top so trunk space is sacrificed for this reason. The market for a convertible is a small number compared to the Q50 sedan and the Q60 coupe itself. It will be tough though unless infiniti comes out with a revolutionizing one.
The motor is probably the smallest thing about the convertible top that sits in the trunk, the rest of the moving parts like arms take up A LOT of space. After all look at how big of an object is needs to move and keep stable all the way through it's movement.
Another thing to consider for the Q60 coupe and the Q60 convertible is the weight and fuel economy. I think there would be a difference in weight with the two isn't there.
It's hard to say since the Q60 is not even out yet but comparing the two previous G37 would give us a better understanding. The G37 convertible was about 440lb heavier than the g37 coupe. With that much added weight that is almost the same weight of an engine. That would add some load affecting the fuel economy. Infiniti should use more lighter materials that won't trigger the uprise of price and still have the same sturdy construction.
Interesting... looking at the number of both the G37 Coupe and Convertible they only differ from 2 mpgs. The G37 Coupe automatic is averaging 25 mpg and the convertible is 27 mpgs.
I just hate the look of the G37 convertibles though. Those numbers aren't that big of a difference considering the extra weight. But lest hope if they were to make the Q60 convertible it's going to look sexy.
It just depends on taste really. I don't mind it I wouldn't say the convertible G37 is ugly but it could use improvement. And for sure I would expect a Q60 sedan some where along the line.
A lot of cars from the same part of the world have similar design features. I notice a lot of Japanese vehicles look like eachother or just have that japanese car look, same goes for german, british and american car makers.
I noticed that to with the looks not so much on the asian imports but more so on the european vehicles they tend to have the same design. Just look at the new Jaguar F-Type and the Aston Martin Vanquish they have identical body lines.
I don't have a thing for convertibles I always just go for the coupe. On some cars though I can agree that it looks best as a roadster but i don't know if this is the case for the Q60. The G37 convertible just didn't do it for me.
there might be a slight chance that infiniti might be using the same layout for the convertible model of the Q60. don't wait on it though it will be a while till the convertible makes its appearance since there is still no confirmation on even how the Q60 will be looking like.
As we discussed in the other thread about the expected exterior of the Q60. It shouldn't be far off of how the Q50 is besides the obvious of course. so after the Q60 expected date of release in 2016 it should be to long till the Q60 convertible makes its debut.
Until I see some actual numbers I would say that in the U.S. convertibles are just as popular. Maybe the G37 convertible didnt prove itself to be worthy but maybe this is where the Q60 can come back and take the show.
