Turbo inducer wheel pic

So went to buddy's shop to work on my ride, we both went to his body shop and found a Q60 with the engine removed.

We were talking about it, took a pic of the tiny inducer wheel. I swear, its slightly larger than a quarter. I couldn't believe how tiny it is.

The turbos are Honeywell (who makes Garrett) and either it's a twin scroll or divided housing (assuming based on compressor cast which looks weird)

I also pointed out to him about the lack of recirc or BOV. I then found the airbox, took a pause then showed him the clean side of the air filter which had a nice coat of oil on it.

"That's not good!" Was his reply..

No Sheot!! Was my reply.

So he said, "get the HKS on it and ill tune it for the momentary richness"

Anyways, not going to debate on here. Just posting up so everyone can take a look at it.

Nice!!!

Great find!!

Ive been busy between work and building the car (and an angry gf)

but this is great info!

Just as I suspected, After 5K RPMs the turbos fall on its face.

But according to that plot line, tuning will keep it in the island a little longer. After that your just blowing hot air.

Was cool to see them call out the model and give a compressor map. It's like pulling teeth to get compressor maps on turbos these days.

You aint lyin!!

That place who is selling the $ XXXX.XX turbo upgrade needs to provide a map of their modifications..

Im just guessing theyre honing the inlet and adding upgraded compressor wheel and keeping the OEM exducer wheel

Interesting. So I read your post, went into my garage, pulled out an air filter which has about 15,000 miles on it, and the back side looks brand new and feels dry.

Mine are OEM. As you know K&N replacement filters are charged with oil.

You might be confused.. K&N air filters aren't what's in question here.

Black motor oil on clean side of the air filters is what I'm referring to.

This video I searched really quick, but the guy says "it's got oil on it"

In the first quote you didn't specify the brand of filter or the color of the oil, nevertheless, the back side of mine are clean and free of oil at around 15,000 miles. That "oil" on the filter in the video is the front side of the filter, the side that the outside air contacts first.
