So I just found out I am SOL for getting an AMS tune due to the fact I'm in CA. Even if I was able to acquire the Ecutek hardware, AMS would not be able to provide the remote tune for me. This sucks so bad. I'm hating CA more every day. Hate. Unfortunately I'm stuck here for a while.

Does anybody have any ideas that can help me out?

Go visit Seb @ SpecialtyZ in Chatsworth. He just road-tuned my Q60 Red Sport AWD, and he is a Nissan/Infiniti tuning specialist. He did the flash tune in the afternoon, after the car spent most of the day getting FI Full Catted DPs installed.

Seb has a good baseline of files for the Silver Sport and Red Sport Q50/Q60.

rumor is that AMS is suppose to come out with a infiniti branded tune in spring. I'm assuming its going to be something similar to APR for audi.

Thank you I'll check that out.

What I'm wondering is, how would AMS know in what state they're doing the remote tune? Why couldn't I have my friend in Idaho buy the hardware from them and then simply mail it to me? I then connect with AMS for the remote tune. Can anybody that has done a remote tune speak to this? How would they have any idea I'm actually in CA and not Idaho, or wherever else?

AMS is working with Infiniti to be a performance partner akin to AMG and Benz’ AMG shop. They offer a red
alpha label that includes a myriad of performance parts and a “red alpha” tune.

i'm sure their other tuners that'll claim ignorance, but i doubt AMS would risk angering CARB and get their products banned in CARB states and risk losing their business relationship with Infiniti.

Quick update on my wife's Red Alpha tuned Luxe AWD. After a little over a month of use and 1,200 miles I can report no issues whatsoever with the car. Had a chance recently to do a few rolling WOT bursts of only a few seconds each. The torque is just unbelievable. Sucks you back in the seat and just wants to keep pulling ever harder. Can't be happier.

I'm still having trouble coming to terms with these turbo motors and ECU's. It just doesn't seem possible that a 3.0 liter motor can generate that much torque. Back in the day, only big block V8's like the stock 1970 Chevelle SS 454 LS6 (7.4 liter) generated similar torque. But, driving is believing.

Thanks Chris & Jake at AMS!
Month 3 update on my wife's Red Alpha tuned Luxe AWD. 2,800 miles and running great. No issues to report and no speeding tickets for my wife :) I'm happy.

thanks for the update...the plateform seems to be progressing nicely. Everyday i see dynos with higher and higher numbers. There's a guy that already hit 500whp on stock turbos.

It's been a while since I posted an update of my wife's 2018 Q60 Luxe AWD Red Alpha Tune with HE from AMS Motorsports. It's been a little over 9 months on the road with just over 8,000 miles on it. Still running amazingly. No problems during this past winter's Polar Vortex. -20F in Pittsburgh with -40F wind chill (balmy compared to Chicago) and it started instantly and ran great. Some average stats: 20.2 MPG, 24 mph.

Still trying to figure out if the folks at AMS are mad scientists or sorcerer's apprentices. They turned this little 3.0L Cuisinart blender of a motor into a raging beast (when you want it to be a beast). Couldn't be happier.

Thanks for updating us @Smooth

I really hope Infiniti decides to offer us a canned version of the AMS tune that will keep the warranty.

the service guy last year told me the same thing until now..no news. now i'm thinking of getting ams ra500 rather than the stage3 they currently have, is there a change that once they are officially partnered the ams tune up will not void the warranty? should I wait longer?

there probably figuring out the litigation issues and responsiblity. For example dinan actually covers the engine warranty on BMW when you use their tune. You actually give up your official BMW engine warranty when you buy the dinan tune, just that dinan covers the same amount as BMW does.

AMS is a smaller company so maybe their hesitant to offer something similar.

Given the recent news that Infiniti is relocating and Nissan is caught up in a whole bunch of chaos, I'm very inclined to believe Infiniti will not offer the tune anytime soon. Heck, it barely feels like Nissan/Infiniti can get out of their own way currently and I've begun steering folks away from the Nissan main brand for now until Nissan can get its act together (can't say that Infiniti ever really had an act..lmao...j/k...maybe)

Month 14 update. 12,300 miles on it. Running great. Just changed out the OEM run flats with Michelin Pilot A/S 3+. Wow....what a difference. The OEM's would pull into any groove on the highway and hydroplane like crazy. I have noticed 2 or 3 times the Red Alpha tune seemed to revert back to the factory tune. It happens so rarely that I haven't noticed a pattern to what may have caused it. The next time it starts it's back to beast mode. Haven't experienced any problems with the AMS tune done with only 6 miles on the car. Would not hesitate to do it again.

Does the AMS tune have full use of the different modes(eco, standard, sport sport+) or is it just 1 mode?
