Opinions needed!!!

I have not been able to find a single Pure White RS400 with the Black Sport Grille on...who votes for me to be the guinea pig for this?? Or do I stick with the (gasp) chrome?!?! I just washed my baby today and also had the black sport grille delivered while I was washing her... :p

What am I looking at? The link just shows one uninstalled. Wondering if anyone has done the switch and what it takes to get that grill off.

I bought my black grille off fleabay from an Inifiniti dealer in NJ, but have not had time to install it yet.

Use this link to download the grille installation instructions:

The front clip must be removed to access the fasteners to remove the OEM grill.

That's my link and i'm still waiting for all my CF accessories to get in before installing everything all at once on my Pure White RS400. To my knowledge, not many people have done the swap and documented it here or anywhere else that i've seen.

Here's a screenshot of an all blacked out grille/emblem on a pure white (imo leaving the emblem chrome is better for contrast):

Here is a screnshot of the black sport grille on a Red Q60 from the accessories video:

I appreciate it. I was hoping someone had done this before. Can't find anything online either. You'll have to let us know how easy everything is. I'm in the same boat as you though; I want all the chrome pieces black or CF. The lighter color cars should look great with it.

Car is going to look sick. That white, with the black grill in the front, black rear diffuser, and CF in the middle. Going to be gorgeous.
Any thought into wrapping the window trim? Or you keeping that stock? Just curious, as that and the little door handle trim will be the only chrome left.

Agreed.... I have a Midnight Black RS and have the black grill, the Carbon fiber fog light trim and side carbon fiber fender vents on order. Will post pictures when complete, will be a couple weeks.

I will definitely post back my experiences with the installs! It will be another 2-3 weeks before I have all the pieces delivered.

The thing is, with a car this new and parts as new as these, I would normally defer to having a dealership install them just for peace of mind and having the work covered...but after reading through the accessory guides, they all seem straightforward and i've done much harder installs before.

The OEM spoiler on the other hand...requires drilling, and i'm pretty sure i'd have the dealership handle that one...although, if the pre-cut holes in the spoiler aren't obtrusive I *may* consider sticking to 3M auto adhesive and forego the drilling altogether; that stuff, when applied to a properly-prepped car surface is industrial strength and you're liable to snap a spoiler off before the adhesive gives when applied correctly. I know a lot of people with BMWs, etc., that have only used 3M for their CF spoilers and have never had an issue after many years. I'd rather do that than have to drill holes at all if I can absolutely get away with it.

But of course, i'll let you guys know which way I decide to go in a couple weeks. :)

Yup, I can't wait!!! :D

It'll have the CF fog lamp surrounds + OEM black sport grille in the front (leaving emblem chrome), CF fender vent covers in the middle, CF OEM spoiler and the OEM black diffuser in the rear (will probably switch that diffuser up in the future if we get any decent looking options).

As for the window trim, I thought about that and i'll likely stick with it for the immediate future if still blends well with the car or explore vinyl wrapping them in gloss black. I asked the service guys at the dealership how hard it is to remove and they said it's not hard at all, so if it's even possible to get an extra set of them (it really shouldn't be that expensive for chrome-plastic) i may opt to straight up properly paint a set gloss black...that way, it's easy to swap out to full chrome stock accents down the line for whatever reason. But, long away from that part still, lol.

Here's a preview of that, although the fender vents here are red:

No window trim for now..... A little at a time. not really going for the all blacked out look now, but once I start might not be able to stop. Lol
Talked to Infiniti parts guy today, ordered out of Chicago. Said it will be here in 10 days to 2 weeks. Heading to Las Vegas then to Phoenix on Thursday. Unfortunately not taking the new Q, need to transport some things so taking my 2006 FX45. Will most likely install goodies in March when I get back. Also will tint the windows as soon as it stops raining.
