So instead of clogging up the engine replacement thread I started this one.

I noticed my coolant resavior was low after just a month of ownership I topped it off. With in 2ish months it was reading low agian. So I took it in.

I bought it wit 4022 miles and now had I think 6070 miles.

The dealer gave it a death sentence with in 10 minutes. They pressure checked it and it failed. They pulled the pan and saw metal and what looked to be like coolant.. requested a new engine

Infiniti said they want to do an oil test. It came back 0 antifreeze, elevated aluminum and copper, silicone. they claimed it was normal. Thwy requested dealer to heat the engine up and pressure test the engine again!

Dealer said the coolant was going somewhere Internally. Requested a new engine 2nd time.

Infinti had the tear apart the Intakes and they saw oil reside in the driver side. So infiniti claims that's the issues.

infinti is not willing to change the engine. And they are only replacing the one Turbo. They disregarded the high copper and aluminum in the lab. They also disregard TWO dealer techs continually requesting the engine be replaced since they found metal and visible coolant in oil. Failied pressure tests. (Yet the black stone test says 0 antifreeze. I'm getting rid of this crap box!!!!! Settling for lexus

May give it two months to see if me and the dealers wrong, which I hope so!!

Unfortunately, corporate sometimes like to try replacing cheaper things first, even when it's obvious to everyone involved that it isn't the issue. I say let them replace the turbo, and then when the problem doesn't go away they'll move on to finally replacing the engine. It's a shame that they aren't listening to the techs.

Where are you located?

Yep I figured they are trying to save money first. I think if it's not the turbo and it continues to consume coolant I'm going to trade the car for something else.

I do think there is bad turbo seal, the dealer showed me pictures of oil in the intake side. Hoping that's it so I can gain confidence in the engine. I would like to go pure done the road.

I'm located in NWI just outside Chicago.

Which dealer are you going to?

For an independent look, since you are in the Chicago area, you could contact AMS Performance and ask them to take a look. Might cost you a diagnostic fee, but it might be worth it considering you are deciding whether to keep your Q or sell/trade it.

****, that sucks, they're the dealership that AMS recommends too.
Berman has been really good. They took my side but infitini cooperate told them what to do. cooperate has final say.. I definitely trust Berman, if this doesn't solve my issue, even Berman told me I have it documented.

Sorry to hear of your woes, but it does not surprise me in the least.

I had my own run in with Infiniti Corporate who I consider to be the scum of the earth. They denied my issue even though their Regional Specialist flat out told me my car had an issue, but that decisions are made by their Engineers.

if I were you and with the market the way it is now. Sell the thing, u probably have positive equity. Sold my 2018 RS lease just over 60 days ago and got a check for over $11K.

Took the money and ran all the way to BMW and am now the proud owner of a 2021 M340i. Things are better over here on the dark side 🤣🤣.

Based on my experience- I will never give Nissan/Infiniti another red cent in life. The only thing I can say I miss is the BOSE stereo because I was not able to get the Harmon Kardon in the BMW due to supply chain shortages.

Don’t expect corporate to do the right thing. Get out if you can. Lexus is a great choice. My wife has owned a few over the years. Much better car than Infiniti over all and the customer service is far superior.

Sorry again Sparch about your experience and it wasn't fair. I owned a few Lexus and have seen their them over the years deteriorate. My last was my wife's IS 300 on a routing maintenance visit, they said the one strut was leaking bad and wanted to replace. I went to another service provider and th3ey showed me it was dry as could be. This is documented on Yelp. Lexus is over rated and expensive and now bought many times just for their logo.

Another good choice for a fast coupe is the Audi RS5. It has a 2.9L V6 TT. Very quick out-of-the-box, and also has a fair share of aftermarket support if you really want to go fast.

So update..... they changed the bank 2 turbo and that's that.

@Sparch thanks for the empathy.. Yeah I'm not impressed with infinti. They also gave the dealer a TSB about a coolant smell is normal! Like WTF I have NEVER heard any vehicle having a coolant smell being normal! I'll be getting g rid of thw q60 if I can can get more or at least what I paid. Lexus does have any speed behind them unless you pay over 100k.

@Omenx I agree Lexus is over rated for what they are.

@IridiumRS400 audi is not mod friendly at all!!!! I'm about over the go fast phase. I had a few cars that almost killed me! Lol 😆 I just want quick and luxury sport.

Should have bought the bmw i8 when I had a chance 😭

Ok @Starkmad83, it's been a few days, how your Q running with the new turbo? Any smoke or strange noises lingering after the repair?

The coolant leak is worse now!!!! In 200 miles it emptied the overflow bottle. I'm done!!! I'm going to take it back and if infinti refuses to replace the engine. My lawyer is going to go on the offensive.

The TSB they gave me wasn't a TSB it was some bullshit cooperate typed up. I'll post it later when I get back home.

Here is the note infinti gave the dealer. NO VEHICLE SHOULD EVER SMELL LIKE COOLANT. if infitni has more cars that with this issue they need to issue a recall.

I have to say Berman has been transparent, and supplied me with all the documents in my situation.

Hopefully corporate listens to the techs this time. Sorry to hear that you're going through this.

Even with the letter as some kind of "get out of jail" card for coolant loss, it still doesn't explain the complete evacuation of the coolant bottle after, what, 4 days? The coolant can't just disappear - it either leaks, burns, or dilutes.

Have you independently sample the oil? I would take a sample on your own and send it in yourself, to cross-check what the dealer sample results were. You are assuming the sample was pulled from your engine, right? I hope no monkey business is going on.

Yeah I wouldn't care about the smell if my coolant wasn't going anywhere. And before I take it back I am gonna take an oil sample myself. I'm gonna borrow the borescope from work as well and check out each cylinder before I drop it back off.

I would sure hope they sent a sample from my car. I was suspicious when Berman said it had visible metal and coolant and was sure it needed a new engine.

I want to thank EVERYONE HERE you guys been helpful. And more awesome then the mustang guys! Lol
