When questioned about whether the brand would build high performance models of the Q60 Sport Coupe/Convertible & Q50 Sports Sedan, Infiniti's boss replied that "someday in the future we will be able to offer more high performance versions than we have today" and "It hasn't been decided yet, it's under investigation"

“we should imagine that we would want to also further enhance the reputation we have for high performance cars…”

“someday in the future we will be able to offer more high performance versions than we have today.

“I think that anything is possible, the dynamic capabilities of this platform are very significant. It can handle far higher power than the engines we are using at launch.

“It hasn’t been decided yet, it’s under investigation”.

M3 killer? I don't think it would be based on the G37 or Q60 platform. Would likely be an Infiniti version of the GTR. If there was ever to be a real performance version of the Q60 it would likely be a performance pack version of the Q60/G37 similar to a 370z performance version. Maybe a Q60 R or a Q60 Nismo Edition with a Supercharger? It's a wild guess.

The new Lexus IS is apparently going after the BMW 3 series as well. Seems to be a trend so it's only normal for Infiniti to jump on since they advertise often of performance oriented cars. Lexus has come a full 180 and is now trying to make their cars more fun to drive and allowing them to make some noise and have some rumble.. Compared to a decade ago where Lexus vehicles were super soft and quiet to drive. Big difference.

i'm not being biased but Lexus has a far better chance of taking on the bmw 3-series. They brought us cars like the Lexus LFA supercar & Lexus IS-F performance sedan, which need no explanation.

Nissan has a lot of catching up to do, hopefully a Infiniti Q50 performance model happens sooner than later.

There have been recent rumors of a Twin Turbo V6 Infiniti.

This could be a new model or some sort of upgraded Q60.

I could see this being the M3 competitor.

2014 Infiniti G IPL Reported with Twin-Turbo 530-HP V6

Twin Turbo V6 Infiniti | AutoGuide.com News
Cfrp is right, If anythings gonnacome close to a good fight with its german competitor than its gotta be the IPL Q60. The rumors of the 530 hp v6 sounds promising but where would that put this IPL Q60 in terms of price? This will have a huge affect on Nissan's GTR. Who will buy that if they could get a 530hp v6 luxury coupe.
