Long distance cruising….

I recently bought a 2021 Q60 Red Sport with 14k miles. It’s my first car with turbos. My C7 Corvette or my Porsche Cayman were naturally aspirated engines. I am a solo road tripper and usually take long trips (1500 to 6000 miles).

My driving often involves several days (3+) of driving 500 miles a day. However, as I read about turbos, I am wondering if there are those here who have put a lot of miles on their car or taken long distance trips? How does the car stand up when driving loooong distances (I am planning on taking a 4k trip each way trip to Alaska from Missouri).

I traded my Porsche for this car because, for a 6’4” tall and old guy, the seat, already pushed all the way back, has no room to recline, making it difficult to pull over and nap.

Now, I am wondering if it would hold up. I don’t intend to drive fast, just cruise at 70-80 mph most of the time.

You should be fine. The car isn’t tuned, and your’re not pushing it crazy.
I agree with Rspin23. When I got out the Navy last year. I drove home from Washington state to Texas in 4 days solo. It was a nice drive going through I-5 then on to I-10. Some areas I pushed it to make up time from sleeping. Other than that I was cruising around 85ish. If you plan on spirited driving. I would recommend opening up the rpms through 4th and 6th before cruising into 7th. Especially since you have low mileage.

Mine is auto and I don’t use the paddle shifters. In the USA, out west, yes I cruise the same way…about 80-85ish with a minute or two up near 3 figures but I am planning to drive in Canada, the limits are low (55-60) and if caught going 25+ miles over speed limit, car gets impounded for 7 days, costs several thousand dollars…
I wouldn't have any reservations about driving my Q60 cross country. FYI, every 2017+ is automatic.
In July 2018 when my Q was barely a year old, I made a solo round-trip from the Bay Area NorCal to/from Cinci OH. Daytime temps during that cross-state adventure were in the 90s and higher, necessitating the use of AC every hour I was on the road, which was anywhere from 9-10 hours of driving each day, and the cruise control was engaged for nearly as many hours per day. Total miles accumulated was in excess of 5000 including side trips to family and event locations, and I'm happy to report the Q ran amazingly well and with great mpg. Based on my experience and the other comments above, I would say you should have no worries driving your Q anywhere across this great nation. Happy travels !

I have a 2018 Q60 rs. Bought it with 26000 and now has 60000. Have been on many trips and the car responded excellent. Just keep up with your regular maintenance and it will do great. I also get 22 mpg around town and around 30 on the hwy.
