Hello!
I bought my Q in October 2022 with 92,000kms and decided to join the forums. So far it’s basically stock with just intakes and a catback, but absolutely love it. I plan on going more aftermarket once my warranty is out.

Welcome. Send in an oil sample to a lab for analysis. I use Blackstone Labs. Also keep a close eye on your coolant reservoir. There is a small percentage of this cars that suffer from porous block. When it happens, it allows coolant to flow through the block and get places it shouldn't. Like your firing chambers and into your oil. I just had my engine and both turbos replaced under warranty for this issue. I have 44,500 miles on mine now and about 600 miles on the engine and turbos.

Thank you for the response, I appreciate the advice. I’ve been quite cautious with the turbo issues so far, can always be more precautions though. Was that stock motor? I’ve heard a decent amount of horror stories.

My motor was stock except for 2 HKS blow-off valves and an ADD W1 catch can. Both of which I install in hopes of helping the engines longevity. I have a cat back..which should have zero negative effects on the engine.

Oh the other hand, how did you like the BOVs? I was hoping to get some eventually
They're more than useless on this platform.

As for horror stories, it's pretty much all happened to me: I'm on my 4th DCU, 3rd set of turbos, 2nd engine, and 2nd transmission. The first set of turbos were replaced under warranty at 58K miles. All I had installed at that point was the Infiniti helmholtz axleback. Definitely worth sending an oil sample out for testing and keep an eye on the engine coolant as others have said.

Ask any tuner and they'll tell you the same thing.
Then you should find a new tuner that knows what he is talking about.

Google is your friend -
"Wastegates are placed on the exhaust gas side of a turbo system and are used to control turbo speed. Blow Off Valves are placed on the boost side of the turbo system and are used to vent boost in the intake tube once you let off the gas pedal, to avoid damaging the turbo."

So sure, if you dont care about pressure slamming your turbo when you go from WOT to closed throttle, its worthless. Much like the tuner you've been taking advice from. ;)
