If there's no aftermarket parts on the car you don't hear the turbos. Whining is not normalThis is a 2019 q60 Redsport awd when the turbos kicks in there’s a whining noise i dont know if this is supposed to be like this
could it be a boast leak or a belt. There’s no after market part on it.If there's no aftermarket parts on the car you don't hear the turbos. Whining is not normal
Could be a belt or the belt tensioner. Are you the original owner?could it be a boast leak or a belt. There’s no after market part on it.
No, I bought it around 26k I had transfer case replaced. I don’t know, car has aftermarket axle back exhaust it came like that when I bought it.Could be a belt or the belt tensioner. Are you the original owner?
It also might be the axle back?Could be a belt or the belt tensioner. Are you the original owner?
The whine comes on when I full throttle, the whine is even louder in the axle back.Could be a belt or the belt tensioner. Are you the original owner?
You don't know if the car was tuned and boost increased before you bought it. @IridiumRS400 had his turbos replaced because he heard the turbos whistling which was from the turbo impellers rubbing on the inside of the compressor housing under heavy boost. There’s just no way my turbos are blown.
Yeah I have a video of it whistling bc I fulled throttle it. Wonder what the dealer is gonna say I was beating up the car in the video but it was the only way to hear the whistling.OP - if you can capture some sound of the turbos under boost that would be helpful. Whistling, whining, whatever it is... turbos should not emit sounds under boost.
Have them point out in the owner's manual where applying full throttle to a vehicle that's been through break-in and is properly maintained voids the warranty.Yeah I have a video of it whistling bc I fulled throttle it. Yeah but theres definitely like a windy whining noise under hard pulls so ima try to get my turbos replaced under warranty since it’s going to expire VERY soon.Have them point out in the owner's manual where applying full throttle to a vehicle that's been through break-in and is properly maintained voids the warranty.![]()
Sounds like a plan. Keep us updated.Yeah but theres definitely like a windy whining noise under hard pulls so ima try to get my turbos replaced under warranty since it’s going to expire VERY soon.
Fs, i just made an appointment today bring it on Thursday. You think I should take off my cosmetic parts before I go in I have Rohana wheelsSounds like a plan. Keep us updated.
The wheels don't matter unless they're radically sized or your front and rear tire sizes don't match. I have no idea what cosmetic parts you have so I can't say.You think I should take off my cosmetic parts before I go in I have Rohana wheels
My other is like front lip, spoiler, and diffuser js thatThe wheels don't matter unless they're radically sized or your front and rear tire sizes don't match. I have no idea what cosmetic parts you have so I can't say.
The dealership's not going to care about that.My other is like front lip, spoiler, and diffuser js that
^This. It's more relative if you have BOVs on your 3.0t, and then take it in for warranty evaluation. I always recommend those that have BOVs and an OCC installed to remove it before taking it in for warranty work. The dealership's not going to care about that.
I feel like when I hear what I’m assuming is a slight turbo whining, it does sound like a wind/windy noise. It only happens once in a while and I’m pretty sure I can only notice it when the turbos kick in at a lower RPM… if the boost kicks in at a higher RPM the engine note drowns out any turbo sound. I heard this when I got mine with 29k miles. Took it in to my Infiniti dealer to have them check and the tech was able to hear it when I took him on a drive, he was even able to tell me when he heard it without me saying anything. They checked for a few days and found nothing. The turbos were replaced before I bought it and I'm still under warranty and they basically said it's noted that I brought it in just incase anything happens. I'm at 53k miles and I still hear the same very low whine when I get to a certain rpm so I really think its nothing.I feel like when I hear what I’m assuming is a slight turbo whining, it does sound like a wind/windy noise.
