Hi,

So like some others on here, I was experiencing a loud squealing sound on acceleration... initially it was only doing it when I would accelerate full throttle. I took it in several times and they weren't able to replicate it. Then it started getting worse (would make a squealing sound whenever I would have my foot on the gas pedal, even a little). I told them that I thought it was a pulley or belt issue... long story short they had a specialist come in from Japan to look at the car... they had it for over 3 weeks... ended up replacing both turbos. Car seems to be fine now.

Now I have another annoyance after receiving the car back. Whenever I open the front door, the **** warning chimes... and it's super annoying because it did not do this before unless there was an actual warning (lights on or something). I've also noticed that the round amber "park" light (near the gear shifter) stays lit whenever I close and lock the car.. I believe this is the reason for the door chime. The light normally goes out awhile after locking the vehicle. Has anyone had this happen or know what's going on?

Does the dash indicate that the shifter is not in PARK?

Does the door chime only happen when you shut off the engine and get out after driving? Or does it happen if the car is just sitting there already off and you open the door from the outside?

If you are driving, put it in park, and open the door before shutting off the engine, the chime will alarm until you close the door. I'm not sure why it's engineered this way, but it won't chime if you shut off the engine before opening the door.

Unfortunately I don't think it's anything that's too obvious.... it is happening when I shut off the engine... and open the door to exit. It is then also happening when I unlock the car and open the door to enter the vehicle (again with the engine off). What's even more strange is that once in awhile it doesn't happen but 99 percent of the time it does. I also observed that the park light near the gear shift stayed on all night. I think they screwed my car up.

Jesus, thats a major repair. I wonder if you would be able to tell the difference between a turbo squealing noise and the accessory drive belt noise issue.

From what you're saying, I'm not optimistic that this will work, but it's worth a try. This vehicle has a SURPRISING amount of settings you can customize. While I haven't driven one in a few months, I recall that you can change a myriad of vehicle settings through the digital display in the dash/gauge cluster using the buttons on the steering wheel, as well as through the the lower touch screen. I would recommend going through all these settings to see if you can change the parameters for the door chime. It's possible that it was necessary for the battery to be disconnected during this repair and it may have reset some of your vehicle preferences.

Yep I thought this too when I first got it back and at that time I looked at every setting I could think of... lol

Dumb question, but are your lights set to on? Mine yells at me if I open the door and my lights are set to anything except off or auto.

Did you end up resolving this issue? Seeing the same issue with my 2017 Q50 after turbos replaced at dealership.
