Squeaking/chirping noise from engine bay when accelerating hard around 3k RPM

Lately I've been noticing a weird squeeling/chirping noise when putting my foot down in lower to mid RPM range. it seems to start abruptly and then stop nearly as abruptly when it reaches a certain RPM, then if I shift below that RPM it start up again leading me to believe it is somewhat tied to the engine RPM.

almost sounds like a squeaky bearing or pulley somewhere but its hard to tell and im not really the most mechanically inclined.

Will try to get a video next time but it might be tough with the wind noise to hear.

Anyone else had a similar issue/might know what is happening here?

Could be the serpentine belt. If that breaks the damage can be catastrophic. If you take it in for service, ask them to test the water pump. Replaced my pump at 26,500 miles.

^This. And depending on your VIN, your '17 could be included for the belt alignment TSB.

I would make an appointment ASAP with your dealer to address the noise, which sounds like its a serpentine belt issue. As Bevo stated, if the belt lets go, it can benign (leaving you stranded on the side of the road), to catastrophic, where it takes out the engine wiring harness ($$$$), the transmission cooler lines, and other components.

Don't risk it.

Mine did that and the tensioner was bad. So the belt was slipping a little under load. The dealer knew what it was as soon as I described it to my service tech. They replaced the belt at the same time as well. Could be the same issue for you.
